Who owns these!

Never mind about the article for the moment or indeed the handsome boy in the foreground of the picture. Just look what’s behind him! -A whole road of empty houses. This is Windsor Walk in Camberwell in London and these houses belong to the NHS or at least we think they do. After five months of discussion, the South London and Maudsley Hospital Trust have, a few days ahead of an important meeting with them, decided that they don’t own them after all or at least they don’t think they do. It’s becoming all too clear how these properties have been allowed to get into this appaling state, and by the way why the Conservatives chose them as an example of what needs to change - to front thier policy on empty property.

  1. But wasn't it the same conservatives that sold off all of our council stock and put us in the position of shortage we are in today?

Instead of clutching at straws, they should pledge a social housebuilding project and prise back the properties stolen by the thieving buy-to-letters

  2. It's not my job to defend the Tories track record, and I've no intention of doing so. But on the specific point of publicly owned empty property I think thier proposals are good. Look at the beefed up PROD proposals in the Tories houisng green paper. It would give complacent owners like these something to think about

  3. They do own them. Maudsly have owned these properties for many years, don't take anything else for an answer.

  4. So have these houses eventually found the owner?

  5. We know who owns them Anon, but by attempting to veil ownership in mystery the hospital trust are attempting to avoid responsibility for them.
